About Colombia Juan Cubillos - Gesha

Juan Cubillos of Finca la Florida is a key figure in the region’s specialty coffee scene with his dedication to excellence earning him a spot among the top 15 coffees in Colombia just a few years ago. Years of training in soil management and crop production enable him to experiment with innovative processing techniques and high-quality varietals such as embracing the trend of growing Gesha in Colombia.

The result of his labor is a washed Gesha that captures the best of both worlds: tea-like delicacy combined with the vibrant citrus acidity that is the hallmark of Colombian coffee. The aroma is gentle yet complex, with sweet notes of caramel and orange citrus coming to the forefront. Upon tasting, the signature tea-like complexity is on full display in this cup, with subtle notes of green tea being eclipsed by stronger notes of peach, and the acidity becoming more characteristic of elderflower rather than citrus as it cools. The caramel notes hinted at by the aroma become richer upon tasting, and linger with the silky viscosity of this coffee, becoming more like honeycomb as it cools.

We hope you enjoy this Colombia Gesha, a great introduction to one of the more complex varietals coffee has to offer.
